Construction Industry Lags in Employee Benefits

Compared with the benefits offered by 15 other industries, construction ranks above just two other career fields

With more young people joining the workforce, companies are increasingly finding that they need to improve their benefits to stay competitive. This is especially true for the construction industry, which ranks far below many other industries in terms of benefits offered, according to a recent study from international telecom provider TollFreeForwarding.com. That study shows the construction industry ranked far below many other industries in this category, scoring just 23.22 out of 100. Comparatively, the finance and insurance industry scored the highest at 92.33.

While some industries fared better than others, the overall popularity of benefits across all industries helps shed light on the current state of benefits packages. Unsurprisingly, benefits like paid sick leave (82.1%), access to healthcare benefits (78.5%), and access to paid holidays (78.1) lead the way, while niche benefits like access to childcare (11.6%), access to flexible workplace (10%), and access to student loan repayment (5.1%) remain somewhat low.
