Consumers Wary of Smart Home Wave

Plenty of smart home products are being featured at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas this week, but consumers aren’t completely immersing themselves into the technology.

Realtor.com reports that while some Internet-connected devices like thermostats and smoke detectors are popular with early tech adopters, many mainstream consumers haven’t found a reason to buy.

A major turnoff has been fears of security. They feel that the devices could be hacked by intruders, or that the vendors could gather data based on their behaviors.
