The previously voluntary green building code in the city of Hailey, Idaho, is set to become mandatory May 1. All new construction will be subject to the code, and the city council may broaden the code to include certain remodeling projects. The code requirement on renovations would be triggered only if window openings or walls are added to a building, and would only go into effect if the project requires a building permit, changes the building envelope, and is not listed as an exemption.
