The number of single-family homes built-for-rent fell to approximately 2,000 starts during the first three months of the year.
The National Association of Home Builders reported that the market share of single-family homes built-for-rent accounts for 3.5 percent of total single-family starts for the first quarter of 2015. Although the current market share is higher than the historical average of 2.8 percent, it remains below the 5.8 percent seen at the start of 2013.
