General Electric Develops Connected Ovens

June 26, 2015

Industrial giant General Electric is jumping on the smart home bandwagon by developing ways to connect its appliances with the Internet.
The Motley Fool reports that GE's partnership with IFTTT has already created some ways for users to control their appliances through smart technology and a Wi-Fi connection. Owners can request a text message when the oven is preheated or request that the living room lights flash when the oven is done cooking. The oven can also be turned off if the owner leaves the house or if smoke is detected.
