SolarCity Offers New Solar Storage Package to Homebuilder Program

July 2, 2015

Solar energy installer SolarCity announced that its Homebuilder Program has been updated to include new Tesla Powerwall-backed storage systems for newly built homes and projects.

Before the update, the program only covered standalone solar energy systems, PV Magazine reports. Soon, homebuilders will also have the option to use the Tesla Powerwall, an advanced hybrid inverter, monitoring and control systems, and a new warranty and service agreement.

This fuller package is being touted as a viable power backup option for new homeowners, but can also in the future be configured to act as a time-of-use and grid response tool, further lowering customers’ energy bills.
