Solar energy is starting to become within reach for more buyers as prices drop. Fast Company Exist reports that a gadget can make solar power even more accessible.
The gadget, called SunPort, is still in the works, awaiting funds from crowdfunding site Kickstarter later this month. “Plug your laptop into the SunPort, and it will automatically calculate how much power you're drawing from the grid—and ‘upgrade’ you to solar instead of coal, natural gas, or whatever else your local utility happens to use,” the article says.
It’s not that devices plugged in to the adapter gets charged using energy directly from the sun. As Fast Company Exist reporter Adele Peters writes, “Instead, the plug [helps] support solar production somewhere else.”
