Single-Family Rental Residents More Likely to Buy Than Apartment Renters

A new study conducted by Freddie Mac found that households renting single-family properties are more likely to eventually buy than those in apartments.

In the U.S., about 15 million households rent a single-family house and 25 million rent an apartment, data from U.S. Census Data reveals.

Satisfaction plays a large role in whether or not renters will end up becoming homeowners, the research suggests. “Renters who are most satisfied with their rental experience are more likely to continue renting,” the article says.

Sixty-eight percent of renters said they were satisfied with their experience and will continue to rent, while 32 percent said they will purchase a home.
