According to the NAHB, 80 percent of remodelers reported a shortage of finish carpenters. Forty-one percent of then described the shortage as “serious.”
Data comes from NAHB’s Remodeling Market Index survey in the 3rd quarter of 2015. The numbers were 8 percentage points higher than the same index a year ago.
The survey asked remodelers about availability of labor in 12 categories. The categories with the most shortage were carpenters, framing crews, and bricklayers.
