5 Kitchen Trends that Buyers Don’t Like

Realtor.com shares the “upgrades, accoutrements, and trendy new finishes” to a kitchen that not only fails to impress buyers, but also repels them.

Chicago-based designer Scott Dresner, who has designed more than 7,000 kitchens, shares some of his insight from working with clients.

Among others, mixed metals and a kitchen overflowing with reclaimed wood are out the door.

But Dresner does add that reclaimed wood still has a place in the kitchen. He says: “I love reclaimed wood. I love the idea of reusing something. Reclaimed wood on your island top could be gorgeous.” But beyond accents? “If you’re using it to make cabinets, I think it’s garbage.”
