While Silicon Valley is the hub of the cutting edge tech world, smart homes are more prevalent elsewhere.

Realtor.com found the top 10 markets for smart homes. Phoenix leads the list, and Dallas and New York City are right behind it. Two California cities made the list, but both are in the southern part of the state (Los Angeles at No. 5 and Riverside at No. 8).

The research method wasn’t entirely scientific. The site searched listings for keyword phrases and popular product names. “Our results aren’t meant to be the last word on this subject—there’s just too much variety in the ways listing agents market smart-home features—but they do offer a tantalizing glimpse into where the true high-tech pioneers reside,” Yuqing Pan of Realtor.com wrote.
