Market Share for Single-Family Homes Built for Rental Is Still Tiny

The number of single-family houses built and held for rental posted a gain during the third quarter compared with last year’s period, but that segment’s market share of total starts stood at 4.4 percent. That is down from 5.8 percent registered at the start of 2013, per this analysis by the National Association of Home Builders.
