Newgeography’s review of the most recent U.S. Census Bureau population estimates indicates that Americans are overwhelmingly moving to the most suburban metro areas. In this decade to date, the 30 most suburbanized cities, which include Charlotte, N.C., Riverside-San Bernardino, Calif., and Raleigh, N.C., gained 2.3 million net domestic migrants. These cities are from 84.8 percent to 100 percent suburban. The 23 cities that are less suburban had, overall, a loss of 2.1 million net domestic migrants.
