Differences In Regional Homeownership Rates Continue To Widen

According to the most recent U.S. Census Bureau report, the homeownership rate in the West dropped 0.1 percentage point from the last quarter to 58.9 percent, while the Midwest’s rate increased 0.4 percentage points to 68 percent.

Zillow notes that the chasm between the regional homeownership rates is getting wider. The Northeast’s homeownership rate also dropped 0.2 percentage points to 60.4 percent, and the South’s rose 0.2 percentage points to 65.5 percent.

The national homeownership rate is 63.7 percent, up 0.1 percentage points from the first quarter.
