Some builders have recently pre-wired homes for wireless access points (WAPs) during construction so that owners can have high-quality wireless throughout the house, and have ceased providing hard wiring. Younger buyers, in particular, are drawn to wireless connectivity, so this trend may be meeting demand.
Critics say, however, that focusing too much on wireless could leave owners unable to use new technology, such as high-definition streaming, that works better with a wired connection. Some products even demand a wired connection in order to function at all.
