Two out of three renters in the Denver metro area plan to move to a different city, according to an Apartment List study.
The Denver Post reports that out of those planning on leaving the area in the next five years, 48.4 percent listed affordability as a reason. Twenty-one percent listed better job opportunities, and 4.4 percent listed weather.
“A lot of young renters are happy to move to Denver, Seattle or San Francisco for a job opportunity when they don’t have to buy a home or don’t have a family to care for,” said Sydney Bennet, research associate with Apartment List, a provider of apartment listings. But as they get older, reality sets in and they realize they can’t afford to settle down.
