Rents Are Rising In Downtown Boise

Aug. 30, 2017

An increasing number of people are starting to love the mix of walkability, urban density, and small-town hospitality that Boise, Idaho, has to offer. Soon enough, that will come at a hefty price.

The Idaho Statesman reports that rental rates and home prices are rising in downtown Boise. Developers are building new units that target young professionals and empty-nesters, both of whom have money to spend.

The city may continue to expand its downtown and build more housing units to keep prices reasonable. The downtown area’s population is expected to reach 13,000 people by 2025, twice as much as the 6,364 population in 2010.

Of the 1,057 housing units in various stages of development today throughout Boise, 257 are affordable rentals and 34 additional rentals aimed at working class people.
