Pittsburgh has plenty of solid employment opportunities, even beyond the steel industry. The city topped Glassdoor’s list of the best places job hunters, factoring in hiring opportunity, the cost of living, and job satisfaction. According to Fortune, mid-size cities dominated the list.
Pittsburgh has a 95,000 open jobs and a median base salary of $44,000. The median home value is an affordable $137,400. Hot jobs in the Steel City include civil engineer, project manager, and registered nurse.
Indianapolis, Kansas City, Raleigh-Durham, and St. Louis rounded out the top five, with three Ohio metros (Columbus, Cincinnati, and Cleveland) finishing seventh, eighth, and ninth.
“What this jobs report shows is that many midsize cities stand out for offering a great mix of a thriving job market with plenty of opportunity, paired with home affordability and being regions where employees are more satisfied in their jobs too,” Glassdoor Chief Economist Dr. Andrew Chamberlain said.
