A Republican Missouri state legislator has proposed the creation of a voluntary registration process for roofers who do business in the state. Roofing contractors would pay registration fees of up to $200 to apply. Applicants would provide basic identifying information, proof of insurance, and membership status in the Roofers & Siding Contractors Alliance, a St. Louis-area industry coalition that supports the bill. Supporters of the bill say it would help reduce instances of fraud.
