Modular homes are quite popular today, but they’re exactly not new. Factory-built homes popped up in the late 1940s to accommodate soldiers returning from fighting in World War II.

The difference, though, is that new modular homes are more aesthetically pleasing. According to Realtor.com, prefab homes can be suited for any style the homeowner wants, from Cape Cod to Mediterranean to modern.

The site detailed the advantages of modular homes. The primary upside is how fast the homes can get built. It only takes about a week to complete the main shell in a factory, with assembly and finishing work done on-site.
