Moving platform and app Updater has released its rankings for the top U.S. 15 cities people relocated to in 2018, and for the second year in a row, the District of Columbia came out on top.
Based on relocation data of 2 million moves from January 1, 2018 to August 31, 2018, Updater also finds that Dallas is in second place for the second year in a row. New to this year's list are Portland, ranked 12th, Minneapolis, ranked 13th, and Tampa, ranked 14th, while Philadelphia, Orlando, and Boston fell off the list, The Washington Post reports.
Within the D.C. area, the top five most popular ZIP codes and moving destinations are:
1. 22314 — Alexandria
2. 20001 — Convention Center/Shaw
3. 22202 — Pentagon City
4. 20852 — Rockville/North Bethesda
5. 20002 — H Street NE
Updater dubbed three neighborhoods the “happiest” in the D.C. area because these three had the most people who moved yet stayed in their neighborhood: 22202 (Pentagon City), 22191 (Woodbridge) and 20002 (H Street NE).
