NYT: Housing Market ‘Still on Artificial Life Support’

A look back to where the housing market has been over the last 20 years shows a less cheerful picture, business journalist Jeff Sommer writes in the New York Times.

Sommer points to the fact that homeownership today is lower than when Bill Clinton said homeownership was too low during his presidency. The many government enterprises and subsidies, he argues, are a sort of “artificial life support” for the housing market.
