Sellers spend $12,532 for closing costs, which combine in agent commissions and transfer taxes, on the median home.
Zillow Porchlight covered some of the most overlooked expenses that sellers have to deal with.
Other smaller closing costs include title insurance and escrow fees. Also, many sellers undertake home improvement projects before putting their properties on the market. Those who outsource these jobs spend around $2,600 to cover tasks such as carpet cleaning, interior painting, and staging.
Even though selling a home costs money, most (73 percent) of sellers are still satisfied with the transaction, according to the Zillow Group Report on Consumer Housing Trends.
