Post-housing bust sees a boom in apartment construction

August 22, 2014

The New York Times reports that within the past 12 months, Census Bureau data show builders have broken ground for a total of 332,000 apartments. This figure, which includes apartment buildings with at least five units, is more than any comparable period since 1989. The Times further reports that this contrasts greatly  with the building of single-family homes, which has only partly recovered, and slowly.
