13 Must-See Products at the 2020 International Builders' Show

Get ready, Design & Construction Week 2020 is just around the corner. Between all the educational sessions, demos, and interactive exhibits, make sure to pencil in time to see these 13 residential introductions that you won’t want to miss. 

As one of the largest events for builders and remodelers, Design & Construction Week is expected to see more than 80,000 design and construction professionals for three days of networking, education, and exhibits in Las Vegas, Nev. The event houses both the International Builders' Show (IBS) and the Kitchen and Bath Industry Show, and it is co-hosted by the National Association of Home Builders and the National Kitchen and Bath Association.

With three main floors of booths, an outdoor show village, over 1,500 manufacturers and suppliers, and off-site field trips to exhibits such as the 2020 New American Home, conference-goers have plenty to explore during the three day event—and if attendees want extra credit, they can attend the pre- and post-show programming full of peer-mingling and Vegas-style fun. 

IBS is the place to catch the latest product residential building trends for the new year, but the main reason most people attend is to see the new and innovative products and materials that manufacturers will introduce that week. .

“What happens in Vegas Stays in Vegas” doesn’t apply here; professionals will want to absorb as much as possible and use it in the coming months.

Here are 13 new products you’ll wish you could take home from IBS: 

 

James Hardie Dream Collection

The recently expanded Dream Collection by James Hardie features over 700 colors available for finishes, which are resistant to fading, discoloration, chipping, and cracking, according to the company. Builders can further customize a home’s look by choosing from different sizes and textures. 

 

Velux Smart Skylight

Velux Lighting is showcasing its VELUX ACTIVE with NETATMO, which now features Google Home integration. With this technology, users can monitor and control the air quality in their homes, according to the company. Users can voice-activate Google Home to control their skylights as well as set schedules for when the skylight and blinds will open or close.

 

Inox PD96

The Inox PD96 by Unison Hardware is the industry’s only self-latching mortise lock for sliding doors. It has a bolt actuator that is integrated onto the strike plate and a solid brass push button located on the faceplate of the lock. When the door closes, the push button triggers the 1-inch brass bolt and automatically latches the door. The unit is available in Satin Stainless Steel, Bright Polished Stainless Steel, Oil Rubbed Bronze on Stainless Steel or CeraMax Rainbeaux.

 

Smart Touchscreen Deadbolt

LiftMaster and Yale Home teamed up to bring this Yale|LiftMaster Smart Touchscreen Deadbolt to life. The company says the deadbolt can be retrofitted onto existing doors to provide a keyless entry, which can be unlocked remotely via a smartphone. The accompanying app alerts guests to the lock’s activity, lock or unlock the door, or share access with up to three other users. 

 

Vintage Ranch in Dawnwood

With whitewashed, beige hues, the Vintage Ranch in Dawnwood by Eldorado Stone gives designers the texture and durability of stone with the softness of aged wood. The company says the shade gives a warm update to traditionally cool contemporary design, and professionals can get the stones in 2-inches, 4-inches, and 6-inch cuts.  

 

Neeo Remote

With its design that combines touchscreen and buttons functions, the Neeo Remote by Control4 can control all features powered by Control4 Smart Home OS. With its integrated control, Neeo Remote optimized the classic night-in: Users can dim the lights, put on their favorite movie preset, and play music from the comfort of their couch, according to the company. The device eliminates the need for multiple remotes as it can check the temperature of the refrigerator, control the HVAC system, and close garage doors, among other functions. 

 

Atlas Stone Composite Stone Panels

Featuring a contemporary, stacked profile, the new Atlas Stone Composite Stone Panels by Royal Building Products are available in neutral and bold shades. With the company’s SandGrit technology that replicates the texture of real stone, the easy-to-install panels combine the aesthetic of stone with the lightweight, durable qualities of composite materials. The panels are finished with a fade-resistant coating to protect against fading and damage. 

 

TimberTech PRO Decking Line, Reserve Collection

TimberTech’s PRO Decking line launched the new Reserve Collection. In order to capture the look of natural, reclaimed hardwood, the planks are available in four bold colors, two grays and two browns, with variations in shades. The company says the planks are wire-brushed finished and are fade and stain resistant. Bonus: the company is also launching new 7.25-inch wide planks in its Harvest Collection for faster installation. 

 

Noritz Residential Combination Boiler

Get a boiler that goes above and beyond: the Noritz Residential Combination Boiler heats residential domestic hot water while also space heating the room--an industry first, according to the company. The boiler meets the standards for the highest efficiency rating by the EPA, and its austenite stainless steel primary and secondary heat exchangers can extend the unit’s life compared to other less corrosion-resistant units.

Cast-Fit in Carbon

Cultured Stone has added Carbon, a rich gray color palette, to its existing Cast-Fit line of manufactured stone veneer products. Carbon, the company says, emulates the subtle shifts of light and dark tones present in morning fog just before daybreak. Measuring 7.625 inches tall by 15.6 inches long or 11.6 inches tall by 23.6 inches long, the product is appropriate for residential or commercial projects.

 

Elevate composite decking

MoistureShield’s new Elevate composite decking is an encapsulated product with a with an entry-level budget. It features a strong, protective cap that shields each board from impact, corrosion and harsh weather, the company says. Elevate is available in two colors: Lake Fog (soft gray shade) and Canoe (forest brown). The 5/4 deck boards are available in 12- and 16-foot lengths in grooved profiles (for hidden fasteners) and 20-foot lengths with a solid edge for deck stairs and picture framing.

 

WeatherLogic Water Screen

LP Building Solutions has added a WeatherLogic Water Screen to its Structural Solutions portfolio. The synthetic polymer-based screen that can be used with OSB and a WRB house wrap or in conjunction with an integrated panel, such as the brand’s WeatherLogic air and water barrier, to maximize the moisture protection of a home, the company says. Lightweight and easy to install, the screen resists mold and helps buildings dry out.

 

Infinity I-Series Decking Line

The Infinity I-Series Decking Line by Fortress Building Products is a new bamboo capped-composite product that is 40 percent lighter but provides twice the strength of competitive decking options, the company says. A first of its kind product, it was born out of a need for deck boards that could withstand harsh climates and intense temperatures, the brand says, and offers increased slip resistance, improved heat dissipation, and higher moisture resistance.
