The Return of Fannie and Freddie

In an op-ed in The New York Times, author and financial reporter Bethany McLean says “Fannie and Freddie are back, bigger and badder than ever.”

According to McLean, after the financial crisis of 2008, one thing almost everyone agreed on was to dismantle Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. “But here we are, seven years after the crisis, and nothing has changed,” she writes.
