Rollex Corp. introduces the home-building industry’s first fabricated insulated steel siding panel. Thermal-Pro is made from 29-gauge galvanized steel with a 4-mil-thick PVC finish and an insulating backer of solid, expanded polystyrene (EPS) securely laminated to the steel panel.
The resulting product provides an R-value ranging from 2.20 to 2.63, depending on the profile (double 4-inch horizontal siding, double 5-inch horizontal siding, or double 5-inch Dutch lap siding). The siding’s EPS insulation is designed to allow water vapor to escape from inside the house, while its closed-cell structure saves energy by resisting heat loss through wood framing members.
