Along with the housing markets in New York, Los Angeles, and London, The New York Times reports that suburban Seattle is turning into “one of the world’s top catch basins for the billions of dollars spilling out of China every year.”
The Times cites a study done by China-based wealth research firm Hurun Report, which found 64 percent of China’s millionaires have emigrated or plan to emigrate in the coming years for better education, air quality, and food safety. According to several real estate brokers in the area, Seattle has become a hot destination for the Chinese because it is the home of Bill Gates and Jeff Bezos, as well as for being the setting of one of China’s top-grossing films of all time, the romantic comedy “Finding Mr. Right.”
