Where in the U.S. Has Permit Activity Rebounded?

According to the NAR, building permits have trended up during the past several months, suggesting that “U.S. residential construction will likely strengthen in 2015.”

During the recovery period (2012-2014), three out of four metro areas had positive annual growth. The metro area of Grand Rapids-Wyoming in Michigan took the lead with annual growth of 48 percent. An interactive map shows the annual growth rate of building permits by metro area in 2007-2011.
