SmartAsset ranked the 10 best green cities for families, factoring in metrics that calculate quality of life (such as crime rates, incomes, and access to affordable housing) and how green a city is (air quality, renewable energy usage, and carbon footprints).
Cambridge, which also has a high high school graduation rate and an above average median household income, ranked second to Honolulu. The Hawaii capital offers clean air, plenty of parks and green space, and an array of farmers’ markets.
Other green cities include Iowa City, Iowa, Ann Arbor, Mich., Beaverton, Ore., and Mountain View, Calif.
