The global pandemic put the kibosh on many of the spring European design shows, so it’s hard to get a sense of what’s new on the continent. We did some digging and found some cool things to see.

European kitchen and bath design is always on the minds of U.S. designers and architects because Europe generally takes a forward-looking attitude toward design and product development. Manufacturers are continually pushing the boundaries of innovation and design, and North America has always been obliged to explore those possibilities.

Typically, European manufacturers use trade fairs such as Euroluce, Maison&Objet, London Design Festival, Salone, ISH Frankfurt, Cersaie, Cevisama, and more as an opportunity to showcase new materials, products, and systems that move beyond the conventional. The editors of PRODUCTS frequently attend these shows and can confirm that the introductions are often mind-blowing.

But those shows were put on hold this year in Europe (and everywhere else) as the world tries to get a grip on the global coronavirus pandemic. Still, the new products keep coming.

We did some digging and found seven products that try to continue the European tradition of cutting-edge design:

Zazzeri DA-DA Wall Mount Bath Faucet

Da-Da is a new collection of faucets that company says stands out for its restrained elegance. Available with a squared or round neck, faucets can be ordered with cross handles or Mono lever that the company says has been designed for better balance. Faucet configurations include the floor wash basin mixer tap, the floor bathtub column, and the ceiling wash basin jet with the related remote controls, among other bath and kitchen options. A variety of finishes are also available, including opaque white, navy brass, and rose gold.

Glass Design DAME Pedestal Sink

Glass Design

Taking inspiration from the eclectic and creative world of fashion, the new DAME freestanding basin resembles the billowing effect of a dress. “Its silhouette, characterized by soft voluptuous contours, draws the eye and highlights its shape and beaut,” the company says. DAME is available in various colors, including white, silver leaf, and black.

Scarabeo PLANA Bath shelves vanity Collection

Scarabeo Ceramica

PLANA is the new bathroom concept that includes a wide range of ceramic solutions that can match different types of furniture that meet the storage needs of the homeowner, the company says. It features a bent metal sheet, available in three sizes and three finishes (matte black, gray and dove gray) that accepts countertop basin, wooden drawers, and shelves in several sizes and finishes.

Scavolini Tratto Bath Collection

Tratto is a new furniture collection whose defining feature is its door with a handle profile that provides a grip for maximum comfort, the company says. It includes an extensive line of modular accessories that includes shelves in brass, bronze, and steel, faucets, lights, and mirrors. The handle profile can be ordered to match the lacquered doors. It comes in 14 colors.

Inbani Arc Basin

The Arc Collection of tubs and washbasins draws inspiration from neoclassical architecture and its arches and vaults. Each product features an arch detail that creates a significant shadow, giving the impression that the basin or bath is floating in the air. A variety of sizes and colors are available.

Clou Flush Open Metal Shelf

The manufacturer has updated its 20-year-old Flush series with the new Flush open cabinet that combines practical storage space with a towel holder. Offered in black powder-coated stainless steel, the unit features an open cupboard for personal items or towels and a vertical section for hanging face cloths or handtowels.

Antonio Lupi Cristalmood Sinks

Antonio Lupi Design

The brand has expanded its collection of Cristalmood transparent resin sinks to include three new colors: ceruleo, oleo, and gran cru. Cristalmood is a resin that is manually poured into molds and sanded by hand to remove all imperfections both inside and out. The company says each pour is unique, resulting in slight differences in color, size, and small air bubbles that can form.
