Residential remodeling interior painting project

Residential remodeling is predicted to increase 2.3 percent this year and another 2.4 percent in 2016, according to the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB). As activity increases, so does demand for interior paint projects.

As a remodeling professional – you know paint is a simple job that can have a remarkable impact – providing an easy opportunity to add character to a space. Impress clients and increase the value of your work by staying current on the latest style and color trends, creative paint techniques and new technologies for interior paint jobs.

Utilize accent walls: Accent walls provide a focal point, anchor a space or add depth to a room. Because of its ability to add personality and warmth to a room, a great trending color for accent walls is Behr Marquee Velvet Rope – a rich navy.

Stick with neutrals: Comfortable, weathered colors are the hallmark of today’s midrange neutral palette. An updated neutral for living rooms is Gravelstone, or Crystalline Falls, a soft whisper of blue.

Try light, airy colors: Perfect for bedrooms, light shades are soothing and make a room feel open. Breezeway makes a perfect wall color, and is perfectly complemented with bright white trim. Add a hint of color on the ceiling, like Statuesque, a soft grey. Carry the soothing feeling into a bathroom with soft seashell colors like Soft Shoe.

Add pops of color: Pops of color add an unexpected and exciting element to design. Consider painting more than just walls and trim, like interior doors. Painting the back of built-ins a lively color like Pistachio makes a home feel more custom.

Have fun with color: A dining room is a great place to play with color. It’s a space meant for entertaining, so have fun with hues like Semi-Precious or Golden Thread

Use decorative details: Break up a solid-color wall with a decorative crown molding or a chair rail. Suggest more elaborate crown molding for large rooms, such as libraries and living rooms, or those designed for entertaining. Chair rail can add a dimension to a room and is easy to incorporate into numerous spaces including hallways and entranceways.

Experiment with new technologies: When painting high-traffic areas, such as family rooms, consider Premium Plus Ultra paint that’s formulated with NanoGuard technology, which offers excellent stain removal and resistance against scuffing and is specially formulated to block most household and water stains.

Applying creative techniques and suggesting trending colors and styles will add value to each paint job you complete, ultimately increasing customer satisfaction and potentially leading to additional referrals.

If you’re painting regularly, you can save yourself money through The Home Depot Pro Xtra Paint Rewards program. As a Pro Xtra member, you can get up to 20 percent off paint, stains and primers. You can also save time when ordering paint and brushes with direct-to job-site delivery – allowing you to start and finish projects quicker.
