Home Features That Sell for More
With more options to choose from, homebuyers have grown more selective, so offering features that appeal to today’s buyers can really set a home or community apart. According to real estate marketing platform Zillow, homes that feel highly personalized and that feature cozy lifestyle amenities sell for 3.2% more than expected, and bespoke finishes have a 3% premium.
What's popular now?
Purpose-built spaces also are popular with today's homebuyers. Gourmet kitchens, for instance, sell for 3% more, and homes or communities that have golf simulators as an amenity have a 2.7% price premium.
Move-in ready homes are in
While personalization is attracting buyers at a higher price point, homes that require renovation sell for 14% less on average. For most buyers, budgets are strained, so throwing more money into a renovation is not an option most of them want to tackle.
Cottage and coastal lifestyle amenities fetch a higher price
Homebuyers are gravitating toward home designs that offer a cozy lifestyle. Coastal and cottage lifestyle amenities—such as docks, outdoor kitchens, outdoor fireplaces, and waterfront views—typically sell for more. The word “cottage” alone can add a 3.2% sale premium to a listing, according to the report.
