As part of a volunteer effort to make homes in Nashville more accessible, 80 Deckorators certified pros along with their crews headed to the city to build accessible decks and ramps. The effort was part of the Build it Forward volunteer event held in partnership with Rebuilding Together Nashville.
Rebuilding Together Nashville has worked for more than 30 years to repair homes and revitalize communities in the Nashville area by providing critical home repairs that address health and safety issues and support disaster recovery efforts.
"Rebuilding Together Nashville is built on the belief that communities are stronger when neighbors invest in one another," says Rebuilding Together Nashville CEO Andrea Prince. "Build It Forward embodies that same spirit—skilled professionals bringing their craft to families who need it most so they can stay safely in the homes and neighborhoods they've spent a lifetime building.”
The event took place from Oct. 21 to 23, and during that time, crews worked on five outdoor deck and ramp projects to create accessible outdoor spaces that homeowners can enjoy and actually use.
Build It Forward also serves as an opportunity for collaboration and learning. While there, volunteers had the chance to work alongside Deckorators field specialists and other deck-building professionals, sharing their techniques and best practices on the jobsite.
