Buy three houses in Portland for the price of one in San Jose

The Atlantic’s CityLab compares how many houses one can buy around the nation for the price of one in Silicon Valley.

With a median single-family home costing $900,000 in San Jose, the largest city in Silicon Valley, you could get two houses in New York City, which isn’t particularly known as an affordable market. Moreover, one could get three houses in Portland, four in Philadelphia, or five in Orlando for the price of one median-priced San Jose home.
