New York Mayor Bill De Blasio signed legislation to expedite reconstruction work at areas of the city destroyed in the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy. The action will give property owners a “pathway to immediately start the repairs and elevation they need,” said a city official. The intent is to cut through the red tape and bureaucracy that has been holding back reconstruction since the October 2012 storm struck New York causing unprecedented flooding.
