Design Tips for Creating the Most Practical Home Office Space

Remote workers aren't in any rush to revisit their old commutes and return to the office, which is why Housing Design Matters says it may be time to invest in more functional home work spaces

Higher gas prices are forcing consumers to reconsider their most common household expenses, from grocery bills to car payments and housing costs. And as employers work to bring their teams back into the office, inflated gas prices are keeping workers away. For those lucky enough to bypass high gas prices and continue working from home, Housing Design Matters says a few essential design considerations can make at-home work spaces just as productive as the office.

Acoustical privacy is key, especially in an era of video meetings and phone calls, which is why it may be a good idea to rethink floor plans that only leave room for office spaces in areas of the home that see the most family traffic. 

Look at your current floor plans. Do they include features that will attract this nimble work-from-anywhere buyer? Do they include two acoustically private work from home spaces? Are you located near an amenity that a city dweller would cherish – walking, hiking, and biking without having to dodge cars or golf or…. You get the idea. Get ready. The new work-from-anywhere migration is just beginning.
