About 1.5 Million Older Households Need Retrofits To Accommodate Aging In Place
Feb. 22, 2017
Nearly two-thirds of the 55 and older population wish to age in place, but many don’t have homes that are accessible for those with mobility issues.
Freddie Mac released its monthly Insight survey which identified some of the biggest obstacles older homeowners face.
The survey found that nearly 1.5 million older households need some retrofitting. Major retrofitting, though, can be 40 times more expensive than adding simple aging in place features such as grab bars and drawer handles.
