As foreclosures drop, eviction cases against renters increase

The rate of eviction cases has increased in various areas – both urban and rural – across the country, The New York Times reports.

In Milwaukee, eviction cases filed against tenants increased by 43 percent from 2010 to 2013. In the same time frame, Maine experienced a 21 percent increase in eviction filings, and Kentucky, 8 percent. Over the same period, research from the firm CoreLogic found the number of foreclosures of homeowners dropped by half.
