The highs and lows of vaulted ceilings

High ceilings can create a light and airy space, but there are some downsides. Houzz contributor Joanna Tovia weighs the pros and cons.
 
Controlling temperature in a space with vaulted ceilings can be problematic. If the sun is always out during the day, rooms can stay warm in winter and cool in summer. But once clouds shade the rays, vast spaces with vaulted ceilings can be difficult to heat, and less energy efficient.
