According to analysis by the NAHB, the average cost of building a single-family home in 2015 is $289,415.
On average, homes were built on 20,129 square feet of land, had 2,802 square feet of finished space, and sold for an average of $468,318.
This means that 61.8 percent of the average home sale price, $468,318, consisted of construction costs, similar to the 2013 breakdown (61.7 percent).
Average builder profit was 9.0 percent, compared to 9.3 percent in 2013, the NAHB reports.
