Tiny Homes Making a Big Splash in Portland

If you earn around $15 an hour, buying a house in a city like Portland probably seems out of reach. But a new small-home community in East Portland is looking to change that.

Starting at $175,000, these compact 450-square-foot “detached condos” come in well below Portland’s median sale price of $285,000—a median number that keeps getting higher. Does that sound too good to be true?

Well, for right now at least, it is, as the 13 planned tiny homes haven’t been built yet. Although, according to Realtor.com, the homes are scheduled for completion in Aug. 2016.
