A Building Yesterday, Rubble Today, A New Building Tomorrow

A Dutch company called StoneCycling takes rubble from demolished structures and makes it into new building materials.

According to Curbed, the company takes the salvaged brick and stone and mixes it with other wastes like ceramic, clay, and glass to form a construction-grade aggregate. StoneCycling produces 20 types of bricks.

StoneCycling’s products aren’t just for small-scale, niche uses. More than 15 tons of their WasteBasedBricks—made of materials recycled from an old Dutch building—were used to construct a modern Rotterdam home.
