The U.S. will add 3.5 million immigrant households through 2025.

​From​ a new report from the Urban Land Institute, Curbed ​writes​ that immigrants will greatly influence the real estate market and housing industry over the next few decades.

Homeownership is increasing among the immigrant population, which could drive demand for new residential construction. While the immigrant population is rising fastest outside of the major cities (61 percent of the country’s foreign-born population lives in the suburbs), urban cores still need to prepare for a new wave of people.

Investing in housing, retail, recreational, and cultural amenities now, including social and educational programs, can help areas benefit from the potential of their inevitable new neighbors.
