With inexpensive homes and quality schools, Blue Springs, Mo., is a good place for people to raise a family.
According to Business Insider, HomeUnion ranked 21 ZIP codes in the nation’s largest metros that have both affordable houses and highly rated public schools.
Blue Springs, a suburb of Kansas City, finished first. Homes in the 64014 ZIP code have a median sales price of $159,700.
Tuttle, Okla., Fenton, Mo., Boca Raton, Fla., and Aurora, Ill., round out the top five. No New York City suburbs made the list, and California was only represented by Rocklin, a city 22 miles away from Sacramento.
“As home prices continue to increase in many coastal markets, particularly in the Western US, we are seeing the best opportunities for first-time home buyers with families in the center of the country," said Steve Hovland, director of research for HomeUnion, of the company's findings.
