Amazon Is Hiring, And It Will Impact Housing Growth

The e-commerce giant Amazon is adding 2,500 warehouse jobs in the Denver region, which means that many new employees will be looking for places to live. Townhomes priced at around $200,000 are in high demand, for example.

Meyers Research examined the impacts of Amazon on the housing industry.

The company will hire 1,500 workers in Portland who will make roughly $30,000 a year on average. Portland doesn’t have any active projects under $350,000, however, so these workers will look to the existing-home market.

Amazon employs the whole gamut of income levels, from warehouse workers to software developers and engineers. Amazon’s expansion plans not only will create new employment opportunities, but also impact local housing markets.
