Built-For-Rent Home Production Slows

Over the last four quarters, 28,000 single-family built-for-rent homes were constructed, down from 35,000 during the previous four quarters, according to NAHB.

Single-family built-for-rent homes account for 3.5 percent of all total starts as of the second quarter of this year, down from 5.8 percent in early 2013.

The slowing of this market, along with its relative small size, stands in contrast to public discussion concerning the overall size of the single-family rental market.
