In San Antonio, you only need to make $47,000 a year to afford a median-priced home. In San Francisco, the average home is considerably more expensive, so you’d need to make $162,000 a year to afford it.

Business Insider broke down the salary needed to buy a home in 19 major U.S. cities. In addition to home prices, the report took into account interest rates for common 30-year fixed-rate mortgages, property taxes, and insurance costs.

San Antonio was the cheapest city on the list, where a home costs $210,500 with a monthly mortgage payment of $1,137. San Francisco is the most expensive. The median house price is $885,600, and a monthly mortgage payment can cost $3,778.
