Housing Affordability National Average at Decade-Low

ATTOM Data Solutions, a multi-sourced property database, released the Q3 2017 U.S. Home Affordability Index, showing increasing home prices and improved housing affordability in many markets during Q3, but the national average remains at a historical low.

HousingWire analyzed factors affecting affordability, along with sources of temporary and sustained relief moving forward.

Affordability decreased in July as low levels of housing inventory pushed home prices up, and the housing market should prepare for further affordability drops in the future, First American Financial Corp., a provider of title insurance, settlement services and risk solutions for real estate transactions, said in a new report.
