Can Communities Deliver Walkable Neighborhoods?

Being in walking distance to places to eat, shop, work, and play is the hottest trend in real estate for buyers and renters alike, The Huffington Post reports. But how many such places are there in the U.S.?

The scarcity of such neighborhoods comes from the fact that they haven’t been in high demand until the latter half of the 20th century, before highways, roads, and parking lots are as congested as they are today.

But according to the Huffington Post, there are many actions communities can take in order to make walkable neighborhoods a reality.
